A fine trek in the Kumaon Himalaya.
This delightful trek in the foothills of Western Himalaya offers splendid close-up views of the high peaks in Nanda Devi Sanctuary and Panch Chuli region. The 9 days trek passes through the mixed forest of bamboo, oak, pine, rhododendron and open valleys and small villages. Excellent campsites, fantastic views, mountain culture, local people, Hindu Temples and spiritual Ashrams makes this an unforgettable active holiday in this least visited and unspoilt part of the Himalaya.
The highlight of the trip is the service & hospitality offered by our friendly and professional trekking crew, including our outdoor chefs who cook great and nutritious food with varieties that change almost every day. Tour Itinerary : - Nanda Devi Explorer

Day 1: Arrive Delhi

Arrive at New Delhi International airport. After completing the immigration and customs, proceed towards the arrival hall. Meeting and assistance upon arrival with a traditional welcome of garlanding and transfer to the hotel (the room being held from the previous day).
This morning, after early breakfast, we set off for a quick exploration of Old and New Delhi covering a few highlights of the city.
The combined tour of Old and New Delhi includes the visit to Jama Masjid, India's largest mosque, built of red sandstone and white marble in the middle of the 17th century. The Silver Street of Delhi, Chandani Chowk, was once an imperial avenue and Shah Jehan once rode at the head the lavish cavalcades. Today, this place is full of hustle-bustle, stuffed with shops, ateliers of silversmiths, stalls, food joints, etc.
Later visit to New Delhi includes drive past the India Gate, built in memory of Indian soldiers killed during the First World War. Rashtrapati Bhawan, built in the early 20th century as the Imperial residence of the Viceroy is today the official residence of the President of India and Parliament House. This building has a unique construction which giant colonnades. Humayun’s Tomb, built by his senior widow and mother of Akbar, Hamida begum, is the first Mughal garden tomb of India.

Late evening, departure transfer to Old Delhi railway station to board the overnight train to Kathgodam(meaning timber depot), known at the Gateway of Kumaon Hills. The city developed in the foothills, nestles on by the riverside of Gaula, based at 554 meters altitude from the sea level.

Day 2: Arrive Kathgodam- Binsar (105 km/about 3 to 4 hrs)

This morning around 0600 hrs arrive at Kathgodam station. Meeting at the station and drive to Binsar – a scenic destination located amidst a wildlife sanctuary at an elevation of 2412 m above the sea level situated in Kumaon region of Uttarakhand state.
On arrival at Binsar, check in at Delightful Khali Estate offering panoramic views of the Garhwal Himalaya stretching from Api in Nepal to Gangotri in India.
Later after lunch, we proceed for a short trek through the pine and oak forest to the nearby village to understand the culture of this area.

Day 3: Binsar-Song (about 4 hrs) – Supi – Trek

This morning, after early breakfast, we set off to drive through the beautiful pine forest to Song.
On arrival, at Song, where we are introduced to the trekking crew who will be with us and taking care of serving us hot lunch.
After lunch, we proceed for the trek for about 3 to 4 hrs to Supi Village(2100 m). The trek is along the river with a gradual climb through the forest.

Day 4: Supi - Mikila Village (about 4 to 5 hrs)

This morning, after breakfast, we ascend steeply for about 4 to 5 hrs initially through the mixed forest on a well-made path, through small farming land.
Later, we then decent to another river valley through the bridge, which has a small local temple, we again climb steeply through the village slightly away from Mikila village (2400 m). We will camp in a small clearing.

Day 5: Mikila – Raj Kharka (about 8 to 9 hrs)

This morning, after breakfast we begin our longest, but might be the most interesting day of the trek through the forest and meadows. We then climb towards the ridge and will be rewarded with the fine views of Nanda Devi and Nanda Devi East and Nanda Kot peaks.
We walk on the ridge for some time, then drop to cross a small pass(3050 m), decent further to the excellent campsite at Raj Kharka (2520 m) by the river.

Day 6: Raj Kharka- Namik (about 7 to 8 hrs)

This morning after breakfast we proceed to trek to Namik village (2150m). Today’s trek is dominated by 6860m peak- Nanda Kot, the walk contours along the northern ridge and then descends to Ram Ganga where we cross the river on the bridge, which is an ideal stop for picnic lunch.
Later after lunch, we ascend to the Village of Namik, a lovely campsite with fine views of the Valley below.

Day 7: Namik- Small Hut (about 5 to 6 hrs)

This morning, after breakfast we trek on an ancient trail, accompanied by the Shepherds and their flocks taking to the high pastures, we reach a small junction and follow the left path just before the pass (3200 m). After the pass, we descent to a small hut where we will set up a camp (3400m).

Day 8: Small Hut- Base of Sudam Khal pass

This morning, after breakfast we set off for the most spectacular walks - beneath the Panch Chauli peaks and to the west where we have fine views of the Nanda Devi Peak. The trek is along the ridge until we reach the Sudam Khal Pass (3980 m) and we continue to trek further and camp just below Kaguri Bhel pass (4800m, which is by the small mountain stream at an altitude of 4100 m.

Day 9: Climb to Kaugri Bel Pass (4800mt) ( about 8 hrs)

This morning after early breakfast for those feeling fit and ready to take more challenge, we climb to the pass which involves a very steep scramble over boulders, snow and scree to reach the summit. The effort will be well rewarded with the view of the peaks in Gauri Ganga.

Day 10: Base of Sudam Khal pass- Forest Camp (about 8 to 9 hrs)

This morning, after breakfast we descend and trek back towards Small Hut and then to Namik and further to the Forest camp (3050m)

Day 11: Forest camp- Shepherd’s hut ( In Gauri Ganga Valley),

This morning, after breakfast we descend and cross several rivers, ridges including 3450 m pass offering beautiful views of the peaks and the Gauri Ganga.
We descend from the pass to a meadow with Shepherd's hut (2600m). The campsite offers fine views of the mountains.

Day 12: Base of Sudam Khal pass- Munsiari (about 5 to 6 hrs)

This morning, after breakfast we trek and descent to Munsiari. The trek offers great views of the Panch Chauli

Day 13: Munsiari-Kathgodam (280 km/about 10 hrs)

This morning, after breakfast we say goodbye to our trekking crew for a long drive through the rolling hills and forest to Kathgodam for overnight train at 2040 hrs to Delhi.

Day 14: Arrive Delhi

This morning, we arrive in Delhi at around 0445 hrs. Meeting and assistance on arrival and transfer to the hotel(the room being held from the previous day).
This day is at leisure – free for independent activities. (Room being held till departure)
Later in the evening, you will be transferred to the airport to board your onward international flight taking back the memories of the mountains, the peaks of the trip Nanda Devi
