DARJEELING

SUNDERBANS
The mangrove delta area of Sunderbans is full of green terrain. A serene composition of Meghna River Brahmaputra River and Ganges River in the Bay of Bengal, this area is home to a large population of Royal Bengal tigers at its Sunderbans Tiger Reserve. Famed as the largest mangrove forest in the world, more than 100 tigers roam freely along with several other species. A paradise for wildlife lovers, this place is yet one of the most captivating places to experience wildlife at its best. Beautiful Forest as the word Sunderbans means in Bengali, this UNESCO World Heritage Site borders with Bangladesh. A visit to the mangrove forest can thrill you for lifetime with glimpses of saltwater crocodiles (5 meters long), gigantic dolphins, wild boar, fox, leopard cats, flying fox, Indian grey mongoose, etc.

KALIMPONG
The small, sleepy town based at 1200 meters of altitude is one of the most visited tourist destinations of West Bengal. This little town was once a subdivision of Darjeeling; Kalim is a local dialect which translates as King’s Minister whereas Pong translates to Stronghold. The weather here is slightly milder and remains pleasant throughout the year. The town was once under the dynasty of Bhutan King and on 6th December, 1864, handed it over to the British. The British built here several education and charity institutions which are still present here. Kalimpong was once a major trans-Himalayan trade hub between Tibet and India. This virgin hill station offers breath-taking views of green lush valleys, churches, Tibetan monasteries, etc.
