Kolkata (Calcutta) - Darjeeling - Tonglu - Kala Pokhri - Sandakphu - Phalut - Gorkhey - Rambik - Kalimpong - Guwahati - Kaziranga NP - Kolkata
On this tour, we will travel past picturesque terraced fields, orchards, forests of rhododendrons and magnolias, and visit atmospheric monasteries. All this is set against the backdrop of the third highest mountain peak in the world – Kangchendzonga – that dominates the azure Himalayan skyline; we then take a short flight to Guwahati and transfer to Kaziranga for few days to explore its wildlife in open jeeps and on elephants.

Tour Itinerary : - Darjeeling and Kaziranga
Day 1, Arrive Kolkata:
Assistance and garland welcome on arrival and transfer to the hotel, where we will have room for immediate occupancy. Afternoon guided sightseeing tour visiting Belur Math Temple, and Victoria Memorial.

Day 2, Kolkata to Bagdogra: Flight & Bagdogra Darjeeling: 98Km about 3hrs
Fly to Bagdogra; arrive and drive 98Km to Darjeeling (The place of the Thunderbolt) a picturesque hill town straddling a ridge 2200m high. It is an extraordinary town, comprising various levels interlinked by steep stairways, a great deal of Victorian Gothic architecture and fine botanical gardens. Mountain views surround you and Kangchendzonga at 8580m towers on the horizon. Our stay will be just outside Darjeeling in a beautiful planter’s house set in 100 acres of rolling tea gardens, with panoramic views of the Himalayas.

Day 3, Darjeeling:
Today after breakfast, we take the toy train (steam engine) ride to Ghoom Monastery, the important Yiga-Choeling Gompa: the “Yellow Hat” Buddhist Monastery built-in 1875 houses famous Buddhist scriptures. Lunch at Windamere Hotel; after lunch visit the colourful Tibetan bazaar and then return to the bungalow for afternoon tea!

Day 4, Darjeeling to Tonglu Camp: 26km about 2hrs & Trek 11km about 6hrs
After breakfast, an interesting 26km/2hrs drive takes us to Maneybhanjang (2134m), a small village on the Indo-Nepal border; trek through a pine forest until lunch break; post-lunch first walk across a meadow then a mixed forest and past few tea shops, ascending about 1000m, to the ridge-top settlement of Tonglu. As we zigzag up through stretches of rhododendrons, we catch tantalizing glimpses of Kangchendzonga ahead. All meals and overnight in large alpine tents.
Day 5, Tonglu to Kalipokhri: trek 10km about 4hrs
The day starts with a downhill walk, leading us through a picturesque Nepalese village; we will have a refreshing cup of tea here and then gradually descend through Singalila National Park is famous for the Red Panda. After lunch, we ascend through a small village and pine forest to Kali Pokhari (3100m), a perfect spot for overnight camp.

Day 6, Kala Pokhari to Sandakphu: trek 5km about 2hrs
After breakfast, a short but steep climb of about 3km will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of Kangchendzonga, Makalu, Everest, Lhotse and other smaller peaks of Sikkim and eastern Nepal. The night is spent in tents at Sandakphu (3620m). The camp offers spectacular sunrise and sunset views over the magical Himalayas. All meals and overnight in tents.

Day 7, Sandakphu to Phalut: trek 19km about 9hrs
After breakfast, we begin the tour’s most spectacular walk offering fantastic views of the Himalayas, trekking through silver fir and rhododendron forest to Sabarkum, our lunch stop, and from here we trek another 7km through an extensive alpine meadow to our campsite at Phalut (3560m). All meals and overnight in tents.

Day 8, Phalut to Gorkhey: 16km about 5hrs
After breakfast we begin first few kilometers with a gradual descent, paving the way for a steep descent through mixed forests of pine, chestnut, bamboo, and fir; we can also see some orchids growing (March/April). Birdlife is amazing, after lunch we take the lower trail to Gorkhey Village (2380m), and camp near this pleasant village with its charming inhabitants, just above the Raman River. All meals and overnight in tents.

Day 9, Gorkhey to Rimbik: 18km about 6hrs trek
In the morning, we trek downhill, passing through farmland, scattered villages and forested terrain to the crossing, over Siri Khola. This is followed by an uphill climb to the village of Rimbik (2290m), where the trek concludes at Sherpa hotel (basic but clean). All meals and overnight hotel

Day 10, Rimbik-Kalimpong: 90km about 5hrs
After an early breakfast, we drive through picturesque tea gardens, dense forests, and villages to Kalimpong famous for Himalayan flowers.

Day 11, Kalimpong to Bagdogra: 80Km about 3hrs & Bagdogra to Guwahati : Flight
After breakfast, drive back to Bagdogra (about 64km/4-5hrs) for flight to Guwahati at 13.40hrs. Arrive and stay

Day 12, Guwahati to Kaziranga National Park: 190km about 8hrs
After breakfast, a long drive of about 8hrs to Kaziranga, check into Wild Grass Resort for three nights.
Day 13, 14, Kaziranga:
The Park is famous for the Greater One-horned Indian Rhinoceros; explore the Park by Jeep and on an elephant. Meals and overnight in Lodge.

Day 15, Kaziranga to Guwahati: 193Km about 4hrs & Guwahati to Kolkata : Flight
After breakfast, drive back to Guwahati and fly to Kolkata

Day 16, Departure:
Transfer to airport and fly back to home country
